TRUE GRIT WINTER INDOOR CLUB TEAMS '21-'22
INDOOR FIELD HOCKEY
Indoor field hockey is played on a hard-court surface with low sideline rebound boards that are integrated into game play in a similar way to ice hockey. The technical skills, speed of execution, field vision and ball control needed for the indoor style of play greatly enhances player development for the outdoor game. The discipline is sanctioned by USA Field Hockey and is the primary winter training method offered by clubs nationwide.
INDOOR EQUIPMENT
Indoor field hockey uses a special stick and left-handed glove. Neither are needed for the November 7th tryout, but will be required for players selected to indoor teams. Indoor field hockey sticks can be purchased online through www.longstreth.com or locally at Good Sport in Cohasset.
SEASON OVERVIEW
- True Grit indoor team rosters will be capped at 12 players per team to support the 5 v 5 style of play
- Indoor teams will have a series of team practices from late November '21 through February '22, primarily on Sundays from 9:00-11:00 AM. All practice sessions will be at the new Thayer Sports Center located at 1515 Washington St, Braintree. Schedule subject to change based on final tournament schedule
- All indoor teams will compete in regional tournaments, club playdates and intraclub scrimmages. Select indoor teams will attend the National Indoor Tournament (PA/VA), age group National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers (NH) and Shooting Star Indoor (NH). Specific tournament dates will be released with team selections.
